Sundance Vacations Donates Security System to Lancaster Day Care Center
Wilkes-Barre, PA (PRWeb) December 16, 2006 -- Sundance Vacations has donated $1,500 to Tick Tock Early Learning Center in Avondale, Pennsylvania for the purchase of a security door for their facility.
Tick Tock is a non-profit daycare in operation for 41years, which serves working families in the community that may not otherwise be able to afford daycare. Their largest contributor is the United Way and is also subsidized by Chester County Instructional Services. They serve about 120 children, 50% of whom are migrant. It is a wonderfully diverse community that teaches children skills they need to succeed in the future. Tick Tock also provides their children hot meals each day to give them the nutrition their bodies need to be able to learn.
Ann Stinson, Board President at Tick Tock, says, "The Holiday season is a very special time for the children and their families. The generosity of the community is extraordinary."
Following the recent schoolhouse slaying in Lancaster, the New Garden police department came to the daycare out of concern, Chief of Police, Larry Dampman, explains. The police department's D.A.R.E officer, Michael Raimaido, visited different organizations to make suggestions regarding safety and security, especially for children in their learning environments. Tick Tock was one of the only childcare facilities in the area without some type of security system. The facility is located close to the street with a great deal of foot traffic. With Sundance Vacation's donation, the new security door will incorporate a keypad to allow parent access and prevent strangers from entering the building without authorization.
Officer Dampman states, "Sundance Vacations should be commended for stepping up and aiding in the children's safety. This is a very gracious act."
In addition to the security door, Sundance Vacations will also be bringing Santa to the facility to distribute presents to the children during the Christmas season.
"The Board of Directors, Staff and Families of Tick Tock would like to thank you for your generous contributions to Tick Tock during this holiday season. Not only is Sundance Vacations bringing Santa and presents to every child; you have also enabled the children to learn in a secure center with your contribution of a security system for the front door. This security system will allow the families to enter with ease and the people not familiar with the center to be escorted into the building by a staff member. Tick Tock gives the children a safer place to learn thanks to your generosity," adds Stinson.
